Today we held an event that consisted of a debate on whether social media are a threat to society. This debate was comprised of two teams, one in favor and one against.
The team that opposed the proposed question had very solid arguments:
- The direct impact on mental health.
- The news spread through social media are mostly fake.
- The high level of addiction young people have to social media.
The team in favor had very solid arguments:
- There is a high level of market saturation, and online stores are opening.
- Changes in today’s society and algorithms.
- Platform dependence.
In conclusion, it has been a very fruitful debate, and agreements have been reached. One instance is that social networks are dangerous if you don’t know how to use them well or if you don’t know how to control yourself. On the other hand, they have very positive aspects, such as the ability to set up online stores to earn a living or simply the ability to communicate with people who live far away from you. #IESFranciscodelosRios #TalentSchool #ErasmusPlus
